GCU students join Albayrak’s smog awareness drive at Minar-i-Pakistan

Lahore: To sensitize the citizens about smog threat and its harmful effects on human health, Albayrak Waste Management engaged students of Government College & University (GCU) in its smog awareness drive at Minar-i-Pakistan on Thursday. Albayrak team established an awareness camp on the main road showcasing awareness literatures for the participants as well as the visitors. The university students distributed face masks among the citizens, requesting them to ensure the use of face masks in case of smog.
Speaking on the event, Senior Manager Operations Albayrak Mahmut Oztunc said that public efforts are required to deal with environmental pollution, smog and global warning in Pakistan. He added that Albayrak regularly arranges awareness drives to sensitize the public about individual role in addressing the cleanliness and pollution issues. The senior manager requested the citizens to minimize the usage of smoke-emitting vehicles and to avoid burning of waste and crops’ remnants in order to control smog and dust pollution in the city.
Later, a plantation drive was carried out in which Albayrak officials and the students planted saplings. They also took oath to make Lahore clean and green.
The one-day activity was concluded with a symbolic awareness walk.
