Lahore: To discourage the usage of polythene shopping bags, Albayrak Waste Management distributed environment-friendly paper bags in Lahore. The purpose of the drive was to shed light on the threats emerging from plastic pollution. One-day cleanliness awareness drive was conducted in Chungi Dogej Ramazan Bazaar on Thursday. Albayrak team distributed paper bags among the shopkeepers, residents and visitors at the bazaars. The team urged the people to bring paper or cloth bags with them for shopping. Awareness brochures were also distributed at the awareness camp installed at Chungi Dogej.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Manager Albayrak Sohail Mehmood said that usage of polythene bags should be minimized as these are causing serious environmental threats. The citizens should also lend their hand in eliminating plastic pollution from the city, he added.
The one-day activity was concluded with an awareness walk in which Albayrak officials, locals and sanitary workers participated.
