Albayrak Waste Management arranged the inaugural ceremony of its annual sanitary workers’ discussion and training sessions in PILAC, Qaddafi Stadium on Tuesday. The administration of the LWMC, sanitary workers and students of PU and GC University attended the event. The ceremony which started with the national anthem aimed to boost the morale of the sanitary staff. There are six thousand sanitary workers which are working in zone-1 of Lahore. Albayrak regularly arranges trainings and counseling sessions for its workforce. Staring from May 16th, the training sessions will be arranged for sanitary workers on daily basis. Precautions for their health and safety, use of personal protective equipment, android attendance systems and problems faced by the workers in the field are the agenda points of the training sessions.
In the inaugural ceremony, students setup their stalls, exhibiting environment friendly projects and presented skits on the theme of environment change. Albayrak sanitary workers also participated by singing songs and setting up food stalls.
Speaking on the occasion, Project Director Albayrak Cagri Ozel said that the purpose of the event was to sensitize the general public that sanitary workers are individuals who work day and night to keep cities clean and green. It is our responsibility that we give them due respect and make their work easy by managing waste properly. He added that Albayrak administration is striving for the betterment of sanitary workers.
Chief Guest Acting MD LWMC Nusrat Gill said that Albayrak and the LWMC have taken commendable steps for improvement of waste management system. GM Operations LWMC Tahir Majeed thanked Albayrak for arranging discussion sessions for sanitary workers. The training session formally started with a lecture by Deputy GM Operations LWMC Asif Iqbal who gave detail briefing on health and safety and proper waste management.
The remaining training sessions will be continued from May 17 to May 27 in workshops of Albayrak.
